First Interactive Flood Museum

Although 3 museums have been brought to life under the name of flood museum in the world, these museums are only memorial museums that address one flood event.

The museum, which was put into practice in our country, is the first Interactive Flood Museum in the world, and you will learn “everything” by getting wet.

Floods are one of the leading disasters that cause great loss of life and property both in our region, in our country and in the world. Considering the causes of these disasters, the costs of which are expressed in million dollars in our economy, “Human caused” takes the first place. The idea of the Flood Museum was born with the principle of raising public awareness especially on “not causing floods” and “behavior during flood”. After the idea was transformed into a project, it received great support from the public and the process of establishing the museum started in this way.

In the museum whose construction process formally began in 2019 and established at a 600 m2 area in 2020, beside activation sections; there are photos and videos of flood events from history to present, model of landslides trigger floods, classic and innovative flood and debris control types, interactive river and urban flooding models, hydraulic models, virtual reality room, model of flood disaster Of-Trabzon City year 1929, experimental sets, flood early warning system, digital map that shows if your house has flood risk, disaster response room etc. sections as well.

In addition to this, you will visit in the museum the educative sections on “how to behave individually and as a society”, on the principles of “not causing floods”. We also exhibit many objects in this museum that will be useful and create a “permanent flood awareness” on our valuable visitors. We would like to thank all my work team who contributed to the establish of the museum for their efforts. And you who will be awareness by the museum visit, We hope you will contribute to the reduction of flood losses.  Wishing days without Floods..
